Bio: Written by his owner Scott Arceneaux
Coach was bred and raised by Travis and Mike Echellberry
at Midwest retrievers, LLC . He was the only yellow out of an all black litter and Black sire and Black dam. He is yellow with some white markings. He was purchased by clients of Travis. He spent the first 28 months of his life being raised and trained in their Field trail program. He finished 50% of the derbies he ran (7/13) Accumulating 9 derby points that included a win.He was placed up for discussion after he aged out of the Derby. I purchased him in January of 2024.
He and I started competing together in April of 2024 . From that point to June 4 of 2024. He went 6/6 in Masters and won a 43 dog Q , which was only the second one we ran which subsequently was just my second field trial.
In October of 2024 we ran the Master National and I put us out in the Third due to a handler error. Up to that point he had not handled on a mark in over 20 Master series.
Due to his age and my lack of experience we continued to run a few Q’s in the attempt to earn the QA2 title. We
titled when he and I finished our first All age stake
together in April 2025 jamming or first Amature stake. So ,in less that a year he Earned a MH titles became QAA and QA2 all being handled by a Amateur.
We participate in a few SRS events and have plans to start running HRC in the pursuit of the GRHRCH title once we qualify with his HRCH title though it is not the immediate goal presently.
Coach, will be 4 on 8/4/2025 he is still very young and our immediate plans are to continue to train for All Age work with brief breaks to run SRS and HRC as it allows . This is mainly due to the availability in our area. The fall 2025 and Spring 2026 goal is to try and earn AA points. The main reasoning is due to having a dog we are campaigning in the minor stakes in Derby and Q.
Coach, is very versatile and a joy to be around. He lives in the house. He has a great on off switch. He is extremely stable at the line and a team player on blinds. He is only getting better with age. We are excited about this year. He is a fantastic marker and strong in the water. He weighs on average 75#.
